The grape vines are budding and growing in wine country. It certainly is a breathtaking sight. I always love spring…the start of a new season…new hope…new promises…new beginnings. I drove through the vineyards today for a little alone time. Some peace and quiet. I was lucky to be out in wine country in between the rain showers. And it was beautiful.
However, grapes aren’t the only thing growing in wine country. In Southern California, Oranges are abundant too.
We drove through the wineries on this past Sunday, my Mother-in-Law was in town visiting and wanted to see them. As we were driving, the most amazing, delightful, and delicious smell suddenly came wafting into the car. All the orange trees were blooming! It was heavenly. Truly heavenly.
I didn’t have my camera along with me at the moment, so I went out with the intention of taking pictures today. Well, all the blooms are gone! Gasp! I could tell the trees were towards the end of the bloom cycle the other day, but I didn’t think they would all be gone today! Ahh…just my luck.
I did manage to snap some beautiful pictures anyway. And, every so often, I would smell the yummy fragrance of the orange trees…for a few seconds anyway. On occasion, I was even blessed with the smell of the eucalyptus trees. It was a lovely drive. I can’t seem to get enough of it.
