It was a crisp, fall day. The warm sun melting the morning fog away. Wine country beckoning from five minutes down the road. Europa Village was my destination. A quaint winery nestled in the hillside vineyards of the Temecula Valley, and next to Baily Winery on the main road.
From the moment I pulled into the parking area, the vines surrounded me. This time of year they are changing colors…and are simply breathtaking. Approaching the tasting room, an intricate metal archway, all decorated for the holiday season, greeted me. This set the stage for what was to come. Gorgeous gardens, full of roses and many lush plants, cozy winding walkways, even an intimate bench decorated with a touch of mistletoe…so quaint and romantic. Towards the rear of the property is an impressive covered patio with chandeliers hanging, the roof of the structure covered with rustic branches. It is a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine with some friends. Maybe even enjoy a wedding. The feel is truly special and one to experience for sure.
Upon entering the tasting room, the architecture is that of elegant Old World Europe, easily transporting you across the pond to a quaint village in Italy, France, or Spain. The designers and owners did an amazing job with the facility…the attention to detail tying in the landscaping, gates, walkways, lamps, hardware…it is beautiful. I especially loved the fabric covered ceilings inside the tasting room and gift shop. So pretty and elegant!
The wine list at Europa Village is lovely and extensive. I was thrilled to see some varieties I have not heard of before. For example, Albariño. This is a white wine, very light, smooth and easy to drink. It is a variety that is originally from the Galicia region of Spain. I really enjoyed it, and purchased a bottle for my collection.
The staff was extremely friendly, which made the day lovely. I enjoyed tasting at Europa Village and can’t wait to go back again. Of course, it was also made wonderful because I had great company…
My Dad and Mama Winemaker. Until our next reunion…Cheers!
