I have had many inquires about the Fireplace bookshelf project. And, I’m happy to report, the final touch was installed and it is done! I am so happy with the results. Let’s do a recap.
The room started like this. Boring, way too much brown, blendy and blahness.
I stripped it down and gave it a facelift with a fresh, bright, silver gray color.
We swapped out the TV for a larger one that was in our basement. With that was a sound bar that allowed us to have less cords hanging. Bonus. Then we installed the Not-So-Custom Bookshelves. I stumbled upon them at one of my favorite stores, and they happen to be almost the perfect size. With a little tweaking to the baseboard trim, they fit like a glove!
Ok, Seriously…I am so in love with this photo!! You have no idea just how happy this makes me feel. It is as if the Little Home Décor Fairies were sprinkling some magic dust on my project. Perfection.
Next I installed the floating shelves that were there previously, but I installed them much higher than before.
Finally, I took care of those awful cords and covered them up. I would have loved nothing more than to run them through the wall. However, it was just not in the time and budget constraints for the moment as an outlet would need to be installed behind the TV. Maybe in the future. For now, it was a quick fix with a cord cover that sticks on the wall and is paintable.
Now, let’s put it all together…
Seriously!! I love how it turned out so much!! Let’s put the Before and After shots together again for comparison.
It just feels so much more clean and fresh. The TV wall is anchored with the bookshelves on the bottom and balanced by the floating shelves up top. The entire height of the wall is used now and your eye easily travels up and down. The scale of the TV is better in proportion to the fireplace. Everything feels like it has a purpose. Not to mention, the silver gray paint color makes the dark espresso finished woodwork pop. No more blending into the wall. Swoon. I am so happy sitting in that room now!
Next on the list…tackle that furniture and rug! Making house to home is never finished.
What projects are next on your list? I’ll have more fun projects coming up in the new year. Until then…
