Hi All! I know I’ve been MIA lately, but hopefully I can make it up to you with a Free Printable to help you organize your life.
As some of you might know, I spent the better part of the summer taking classes and studying for my Illinois Real Estate Broker’s License. Years ago, my hubby and I lived in the Kansas City, MO area – it is where we are both from. I had been working for a small (read: the only employee) architecture firm and we began doing work for residential investors. It seemed smart to bring all that work in house, and I went and got my Missouri and Kansas Real Estate Salesperson’s License.
Fast forward 9 years, 4 moves, 2 kids, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree later…we are attempting to stay settled (Our kids are thankful – they are tired of moving). I decided it was time to go back to work on more of a full-time basis. The long term goal for me is to combine Real Estate with my design background – two of my passions!
In attempts to figure out this silly work-life balance, every time I turned around I was needing a piece of paper. You know, the one that I wrote XXXXX down on! The phone number, or that person’s name, what I needed at the grocery store and what ever my kids need at last minute. I kept losing my scratch paper! Yes…I have a smart phone, I use organization apps, but for some reason…I Just. Need. Paper.
I went looking for a giant desk sized pad of paper – I figured that wouldn’t walk away. The problem was now it was too big, and what I really needed was something more portable, but something that would scream “I’m Important” and “Children please don’t write on me, I’m pretty sure I look like I belong to Mom”. Right?!?!?!
On a given day, I am balancing work, the soccer team (I’m a manager for my daughter’s travel team), PTO (webmaster – don’t judge), my Blog (ouch – it has been suffering), and my FAMILY, the kids, my husband, and the house in general – bills, cleaning, meals, all the decorating I desperately want to do but can’t, etc. Geez – I’m exhausted just thinking about it all.
I went to my default – PicMonkey. (affiliate link) I don’t have photoshop – too complicated and too time consuming for me to sit and learn. I find I can do most things I need in PicMonkey. The only thing is you need to make sure you love your project before you close out of it – because once you close out, if you want to make changes, you are kind of starting over. But back to my point, after designing a background, overlaying some shapes, and adding some details, I had a perfectly designed sheet of paper that was everything I needed to stay organized!
I gave it the heading Conquer this To Do List. I needed reminding of my Word of 2014. We all have many, many tasks to juggle in a day or week…but with some focusing, we can Conquer them! I added 5 blank spaces – they can be labeled however needed for the day or week. You can customize it for what is going on in your life at the time. The larger square is for tasks that require more attention and space to write in, the smaller squares are for the tasks that may not be as critical, or need less space to write in.
This week, I titled mine with Work, Blog, PTO, Soccer, and Home. These are the areas that need focus in my life at this time. Next week it might be something different, like Halloween, and school parties. The best part of this handy-dandy printable…aside from the super cuteness of it….it hasn’t walked away!!! Not once! Everyone seems to realize it is off limits for their own doodles. Yay!
So, here is to you…add some organization in your life! Get it here: Conquer This To-Do List a PDF will pop up for you to print off!
